The Palaiopolis-Mon Repos Museum opened its doors to the public in 2001. The villa in which it is housed was built at the time of British rule by Sir Frederick Adam, the High Commissioner of the Ionian islands. It is a typical example of early 19th century neoclassical architecture (1828-1831).
