The neolithic settlement at Dimini is located on a low hill, 5 km from Volos, on the north-west fringes of the modern village of Dimini. Recent excavations have shown that it was inhabited from the end of the 5th millennium until the end of the Bronze Age. Excavations were conducted mainly at the beginning of the present century by the archaeologists V. Stais and Chr. Tsountas (1901-1903) and were later continued (1974-1977) by professor G. Hourmouziadis.
