The Archaeological Museum of Ioannina, designed by the distinguished architect Aris Konstantinidis, was build in the early 1960s. It combines elements of Modernism, Greek tradition, and Epirote architecture. The Museum was closed between 2003 and 2008, during which time it was modernized and completely refurbished. The new permanent exhibition includes almost 3,000 archaeological finds from all over Epirus. Exhibits encompass a wide chronological period, extending from man’s first appearance in Epirus 250,000 years ago down to the Late Roman period (3rd c. AD).
